چکیده

Gravity Recovery and Climate Experiment Follow-On (GRACE-FO) was launched on May 22, 2018. It carries the Laser Ranging Interferometer (LRI) as a technology demonstrator that measures inter-satellite range with nanometer precision using laser-link between satellites. To maintain satellites, LRI uses beam steering method: Fast Steering Mirror (FSM) is actuated to correct for misalignment incoming outgoing laser beams. From FSM commands, we can compute pitch yaw angles. These angles provide information about spacecraft's relative orientation respect line-of-sight (LOS). We analyze derived pointing 2019 2020. Further, present its comparison from GRACE-FO SCA1B data, which represents spacecraft attitude computed star cameras Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) data Kalman filter. discuss correlations seen based temperature variations. This analysis serves basis explore potential of this new product obtained Differential Wavefront Sensing (DWS) control FSM.

Measuring Earth: Current status of the GRACE Follow-On Laser Ranging Interferometer

The GRACE mission that was launched in 2002 has impressively proven the feasibility of low-orbit satellite-to-satellite tracking for Earth gravity observations. Especially mass transport related to Earth's hydrological system could be well resolved both spatially and temporally. This allows to study processes such as polar ice sheet decline and ground water depletion in great detail. Owing to G...

Intersatellite laser ranging instrument for the GRACE follow-on mission

The Gravity Recovery and Climate Experiment (GRACE) has demonstrated that low–low satellite-tosatellite tracking enables monitoring the time variations of the Earth’s gravity field on a global scale, in particular those caused by mass-transport within the hydrosphere. Due to the importance of long-term continued monitoring of the variations of the Earth’s gravitational field and the limited lif...

Statistical downscaling of GRACE gravity satellite-derived groundwater level data

With the continued threat from climate change, population growth and followed by increasing water demand, the need for hydrological data with high spatial resolution and proper time coverage to be felt more than ago. Therefore, having data such as terrestrial water storage changes and groundwater level changes with high resolution spatial helps to plan and make decisions for water resource mana...

Ranging performance of satellite laser altimeters

Topographic mapping of the earth, moon and planets can be accomplished with high resolution and accuracy using satellite laser altimeters. These systems employ nanosecond laser pulses and microradian beam divergences to achieve submeter vertical range resolution from orbital altitudes of several hundred kilometers. In this paper we develop detailed expressions for the range and pulse width meas...

Laser link acquisition demonstration for the GRACE Follow-On mission.

We experimentally demonstrate an inter-satellite laser link acquisition scheme for GRACE Follow-On. In this strategy, dedicated acquisition sensors are not required-instead we use the photodetectors and signal processing hardware already required for science operation. To establish the laser link, a search over five degrees of freedom must be conducted (± 3 mrad in pitch/yaw for each laser beam...
